Meet the Beaver's Leader - Silver Otter

Meet Val.

On a Monday evening, 20 local boys and girls know Val as Silver Otter.

Val is in charge of planning and running the Beaver's Colony in Old Colwyn and has over 25 years experience of keeping young boys and girls interested and engaged in all kinds of fun activities.  Val is supported by a small group of dedicated volunteers.

Val says that she became involved in Scouting when her son (then 6 and now 31) wanted to join the Beavers but there wasn't a local group nearby so she set one up.  She hasn't looked back since!

There is currently a waiting list to join the Beaver's Colony but spaces do come up as children move on to the cubs.

So, if you'd like to put your child's name down for a place at the 3rd Old Colwyn Beavers Colony please get in touch at oldcolwynscouts@hotmail.co.uk.

(All group leaders receive training and are assessed by the Scouts Association before they can lead a group and everyone involved is vetted.)

Volunteering opportunities with the Old Colwyn Scout group

What can change a life?  Volunteering with the Scouts......

The Beaver's, Cubs and Scouts in Old Colwyn could not exist without a group of dedicated volunteers.  But more are always needed.

There are various things that the groups need help with and you don't need any specific skills to make a difference.  In fact volunteering can be a great way to develop your skills for work or University, to develop your CV as well as meeting new people and trying new things.

Volunteers would be welcomed to help with just about anything including helping with activities, designing advertising, distributing posters, fundraising activities, DIY and maintenance, cake making, helping sort out cupboards, cleaning the hut, gardening...........the list is endless.

It doesn't matter if you have a couple of hours once month or regular time to offer each week, your support would be welcome.

To find out more please get in touch via oldcolwynscouts@hotmail.co.uk
